Martin Straus passed his first wine examination in 1974 and achieved his Wine & Spirit Education Trust Diploma in 1982. He spent 9 years with Hedges & Butler in 1980, after which he ran his own consultancy (Winecraft) for 12 years. He was from 2000 a cost management consultant specialising in waste management and recycling. Martin is an Associate of the Institute of Wines & and Spirits and MD of Wine Trainers Ltd. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and Chairman of the Northamptonshire Branch.
Wine Trainers Ltd was launched on 1st February 2008, with the following in preparation:

* Wine Events
* Wine Accessories
These are aimed at 3 market sectors:

* Hospitality Industry - Staff Training in Wine/Wine & Food Skils
* Corporate Sector - Wine Events (Promotions & Incentives)
