What a difference a mount makes .


At Fair Frames I have a number of customers who deal in antiques & fine art . They often bring me beautiful old watercolours ,oils & prints in appalling condition .

I have worked for many years now in picture restoration & one of the things I delight in doing is restoring poorly, unloved & neglected paintings . The difference is immensley rewarding to see the picture as it should be protected & preserved for the forseeable future behind sparkling glass, mounted in a new pristine mount chosen to show it off to its full potential.

Summary

The addition of a suitable mount can enhance a picture .One is looking to the mount to separate the picture from the frame , to prevent the picture from being pressed up against the glass & therefore create a small space between the two to allow air to circulate .

The picture is the most important item here & if ones eye goes first to the mount then it is too dominant.
