Five memorable steps to a good presentation

Does this ring a bell?

A presenter is hiding behind the protection of a lectern and reading out their speech; they are fourth in sequence and, like all others they are running overtime.

HBN is blessed with individuals who have the flair for giving a scintillating presentation - Martin Straus for example takes particular delight in extending the persona to include striking dress and enthusiasm.

For most of us, this is a skill to be learnt and many find the thought of having to talk in front of a group terrifying.

The following video on Five memorable key steps to a good presentation may go someway to alleviating that fear. It arose from a presentation given to the Very Early Lunch Club over a year ago and I still have reminders from people that they found it useful.

You can view the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N01LgIC5i2E (I did try embedding it here so that it would run within this article).

Just in case you are wondering, it took me four takes to record this video despite knowing the overall content off by heart - this relates to point 4 of the speech!

Try applying the principle at any opportunity to talk, including the 2 minute slots on a Friday's HBN meeting.

Good Luck with your new and exciting presentations, I look forward to hearing them!
