WOW! you exclaim "a doubling of the threshold in response to Tory pressure". 

Actually nothing could be further from the truth, but I have spoken recently to well educated, intelligent clients who believd that to be the case.

As a result they might have been forgiven for not taking advice about their estate planning, and in not doing so left their entire joint estate open to far worse perils, such as long term care costs, even if that estate will never be large enough to pay Inheritance Tax on.
